Travel grants
Promotion of young researchers
Aim: As part of its research promotion programme, the ASG supports young geographers who wish to actively participate in congresses by contributing to their travel expenses.
Means: The ASG has at its disposal the financial resources provided annually by the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) for the promotion of young scientists.
Conditions: Applicants must give a presentation at or attend the conference and be enrolled at a Swiss university.
Contributions: Amounts of up to CHF 500 can be applied for and awarded for events.
Applications: Applications must include the following: Surname, first name, address, institute, research area, head of research for the paper in question; congress programme on which the applicant's contribution appears; brief description of the contribution in the context of the personal paper; summary of the presentation; list of travel and accommodation expenses and congress fees; details of bank transfer and payment slip.
Applications can be submitted at any time and will be processed on a "first come, first serve" basis.
Short report: A short report of half a page to one page must be submitted no later than three months after the congress. It should contain information about the course of the congress and the personal benefits of participation. This short report is a prerequisite for the payment of the allocated financial contribution.
Allocation: When allocating the contributions, the significance of the event for the participant will be taken into account first and foremost. On the other hand, the different areas and institutes should be considered in a meaningful way.
